When God Shows Up - and Shows out!

There are days when we see God move in such tangible ways that we simply must pause in awe. One of those days happened recently during a regular distribution appointment with a new client.

A young mother walked in, quietly carrying the weight of a season that is harder than most of us know. She and her children were living in temporary housing. This mother was doing all she could just to keep a roof over their heads and a smile for her kids. When we began talking, tears trickled down her cheeks as she described the honesty of her need.
One of those needs that brought her to our door was a basic necessity. You see, her youngest child needed a car seat. Something safe, something stable — something that any mother should not have to worry about, especially one in her situation.
I remembered seeing a car seat tucked in storage the week before. After she gave me the list of all that she needed…the warm clothing for the small ones, diapers, etc…we prayed together and I went off to fill the needs from our storage shelves. Then it happened!
When I arrived at the storage spot where I had seen the car seat a few days earlier, my head dropped. It was gone. There was nothing. No car seat to be found. I came back and explained gently: “We’ll keep praying. Donations come in all the time. You never know when one will show up. We’ll watch for one — and we’ll watch for God’s provision.” She hugged me and thanked me for what was provided, and I helped her load her children and items in her car.
Then God showed up!!!
Minutes later I returned inside through the back door to find three car seats had just been donated through the front door! We immediately called this mom and asked her to come back. When I carried a new car seat out to her car I told her: “God didn’t just show up — He showed out, because He is Good All The Time!”
The joy and relief on her face said it all. She had been seen by the God who knows. She had been cared for by the Body of Christ, moving in love through your generosity.
What a profound reminder that we serve a God who sees. El Roi — the One who watches over the marginalized, the struggling, the quietly hurting. (Genesis 16:13.) He sees the one car-seat request. He sees the children in the back seat. He sees the prayer offered under a breath, and He meets it — in spectacular, surprising, and gracious ways.
He meets it through you and your faithful donations. For over four decades, people just like you have responded to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and partnered with Him by tangibly caring for families and sacrificially giving to this ministry. You have become the hands and feet of Christ in our community. Because of your generosity, we can touch hearts, change lives, strengthen families. Because of you, moments like this happen-and He is glorified!
Thank you. Thank you for responding to the tug on your heart. Thank you for giving. Thank you for standing with The Refuge Center so that when the Lord sees the need, we can respond — and He can show off just a little of His astounding provision.
Together we witness the power of God’s “abundantly more” — and we stand in awe!

Families, churches, and local businesses lit up the night with neon colors and joyful hearts, raising nearly $42,000 to support mothers, fathers, and babies right here in our community. The energy, laughter, and sense of purpose that night were a beautiful picture of what happens when we walk together in the light of life. “We could not do any of this without you.” Details about the Glow Walk>>
